Flow, pressure, pore size and temperature in one place, using exact definitions - 1 US gallon is 3.785411784 litres, 1 inch is 25,400 microns. Datasheets mix GPD, L/h, m³/h, bar and psi, and a misplaced factor of 24 is the most common error in a filter specification.

Flow rate

Capacity figures on our spec sheets are in L/h. GPD is a 24-hour rating, which is why 100 GPD is only about 15.8 L/h - not 100 L/h.

Pressure

Our UF modules are rated for inlet pressure from 0.1 to 0.4 MPa. 0.1 MPa is about 1 bar or 14.5 psi.

The rows below are generated from the same factors the calculator uses, so they cannot drift apart. Useful when a datasheet quotes one unit and your specification uses another.

Why GPD trips people up

A gallon per day figure is a 24-hour rating; gallons per hour is not. Dividing by 24 is the step most often skipped, which makes a 100 GPD unit look ten times bigger than it is.

Bar, psi and MPa

1 bar is 0.1 MPa and about 14.5 psi. Most household installations sit near 0.2-0.4 MPa; our modules need at least 0.1 MPa at the inlet to work on line pressure alone.

Micron and nanometre

One micron is 1,000 nanometres. A 0.01 micron membrane is therefore 10 nm, which is why the same specification appears as both figures on different datasheets.
