Ultrafiltration for Hospitals, Clinics and Medical Facilities

In a medical building the UF stage is a physical barrier: 0.01 micron hollow fibre holds back particles, turbidity and bacteria, protecting sterilizer feed, dialysis pretreatment trains and the general supply from the sediment that follows mains work. It is a barrier, not a sterilizer - disinfection and validated monitoring remain separate obligations.

Hospital water problems are usually episodic: a mains repair sends sediment through the building, a sterilizer starts alarming on feed quality, or a new wing inherits an undersized line. A central barrier keeps those events from reaching equipment that is expensive to clean and impossible to take offline during clinic hours.

Which hospital systems benefit most?

Sterilizer feed, dialysis pretreatment, endoscope reprocessors and laboratory feed. Each has its own specification and its own responsible department; the common requirement is a consistent particle-free feed so that the equipment own monitoring means something.

Is UF a substitute for disinfection?

No, and it should never be presented as one. Ultrafiltration removes particles and organisms physically, but a validated disinfection step and the associated monitoring remain mandatory. The filter protects the disinfection step from load swings; it does not replace it.

How is capacity set for a hospital?

From the peak demand of the departments served, with diversity applied honestly. H-1 covers 3,000 to 10,000 L/h and H-2 extends to 20,000 L/h; where continuity matters, two modules in parallel give duty/standby without a second control cabinet.

Frequently asked questions

Does the filter remove bacteria completely?

A 0.01 micron hollow fibre element is a physical barrier for bacteria-sized particles, but we do not publish a log-reduction claim for these models, and filtration does not replace validated disinfection and monitoring.

Can it be installed without shutting the building down?

Usually yes - the unit is installed on a bypass spool so commissioning and later element changes happen without interrupting supply. Plan the tie-in with your mechanical contractor.

What documentation comes with the unit?

Specification sheet, materials of construction and the certificate scans we hold. Certification scope is per model, so ask for the document that names the model you are buying.

Send the departments served and their peak draws - we will size a bypassed installation that can be serviced without downtime.
